Intermuros, the stories that (em)power cities
Intermuros, the stories that (em)power cities
Intermuros representes the divide between the privileged inner city ‘intermuros’ and the marginalised communities, including refugees, living on the outskirts ‘extramuros ’. Intermuros symbolises a bridge between these two worlds, aiming to connect the resources and opportunities of the privileged city with those on the periphery. This concept became the foundation of the research company.
Intermuros is into the intersection of architecture, sustainability, and human rights, a laboratory that opens doors to explore how design can empower communities.
About the founder
Eva is the founder of Intermuros. She holds a degree in Architecture from Paris and a background in Social Science. Her passion for refugee issues was sparked during her thesis for a comparative study on Palestinian refugee camps in Beirut and Sahrawi camps in Tindouf (Algeria). This experience deepened her understanding of the challenges faced by refugees and the symbolic significance of physical spaces.
Before founding Intermuros, Eva worked as a consultant for the French National Railway company, SNCF, for four years. Her desire to elevate her advocacy work led her to pursue a Master's in Refugee Integration at DCU through the Erasmus+ programme, where she co-organised conferences focused on human rights in North Africa and the Middle East.
Eva' s journey into research began with a focus on sustainability, migration, and refugee integration. It was during her visits to refugee emergency centers and her discussions with beneficiaries that she spotted a significant gap between academic research and real-world experiences.
This is when she decided to start her adventure with Intermuros, where she can put her knowledge and different experiences into practice by continuing research, educationg and exploring.
